Sunpowered Bones

Plants and people rely on sunlight for healthy lives.

Plants use the process of photosynthesis to create the sugars needed for life. Plants take in carbon dioxide, sunlight and water to create sugars.  The waste product of this process is Oxygen.  The very stuff needed for animal life on the planet!

People need Vitamin D, the sunshine vitamin, to promote the healthy growth, strength and remodeling of bone.  An adequate amount of Vitamin D also has links to relieving depression, reducing inflammation, cell health and neuromuscular function.  Experts argue about how to define an adequate amount but no one argues that we synthesize Vitamin D when exposed to at least 15-20 minutes of sunlight a day.

So, go out, get in touch with nature and be like a plant – soak up the sunshine to build healthy bones and a sunny disposition!
